How does the age calculator work?
The calculator compares your date of birth with today's date. It counts complete calendar years first, then complete months, then the remaining days. That gives you the age people normally mean when they say someone is 18 years, 4 months and 12 days old.
Months are not all the same length, and leap years add an extra day to February. For that reason, an exact calendar age should not be calculated by simply dividing a number of days by 365 or a number of months by 30.
How old am I in days, weeks and months?
Your result also shows other ways to measure your time alive. Total days are counted between your birth date and today. Full weeks are based on those elapsed days. Hours, minutes and seconds use your local browser time.
If you know your birth time, you can add it for a more precise elapsed-time result. If you do not, the calculator starts the clock at midnight on your birth date. That keeps the tool simple while making the assumption clear.
What happens with a February 29 birthday?
Leap-day birthdays need one special rule when the current year does not contain February 29. For calendar-age comparisons, this calculator uses the last valid day of February. Your legal or personal birthday convention may differ depending on where you live.
